1. Secure The site - HTTPS

HTTPS has been a very well-known ranking factor since 2014.

And there should not be any excuse for you not to use HTTPS encryption on your website.

You can easily migrate to HTTPS if you are using HTTP encryption. Just take a look at your browser’s URL bar; if you find a padlock, then it means that you are using the HTTPS version, and if you don’t see so, it means you are not using it. It is as simple as that.

And you need to purchase an SSL certificate to enable HTTPS on the site. Sometimes you get it complimentary while buying hosting.

2. Duplicate Versions

Ensure to allow Google to index only one version of your site.

For example,
https://www.xyz.com
https://xyz.com
http://www.xyz.com
https://xyz.com.

These all are different versions of your websites, and you need to ensure that they all point to a single one, no matter if it is a www version or a non-www version.

But the most common one is https://wwwxyz.com.
And all the different versions must be 301 directed to the prior version of your website.

You can check out this by entering each different version of your website in the browsing bar.

If you get redirected, it’s fantastic; however, if you figure out that you can access the different versions of your website, then turn them to the main version as soon as possible.

3. Crawl Errors

Go to the Google search console and identify the crawl errors.

You can find them in the “coverage report” tab.
You can find the excluded pages, other pages with warnings, and the other active pages as well.

Take your own time to fix the errors and identify the reason behind the excluded URLs in-depth, even though there can be various reasons for this issue, such as incorrectly canonicalized pages to 404 errors.

4. SEO Friendly Url Structure

SEO Friendly Url Structure allows you to make it easier for the search engines to crawl your website and understand what they are. The Url of your pages must be descript and straightforward.

For example, you have written a blog on yellow shoes, and you have structured the Url SEO friendly, then it will look like this :
https://www.xyz.com/yellow-shoes/
Whereas if you have not structured it correctly, the link will look something like this
https://www.xyz.com/category.php?id 32

Use hyphens in your URLs if you want to Separate them rather than using the underscores and keep the URLs as short as possible as they tend to rank higher, as proven by a study by backlinks.

5. Broken links

They are another signal of your website’s bad user experience because no one wants to click on a link that can’t provide them with what they were looking for at your website.

You can find the whole list of the broken inbound and outbound links within your site audit report, as well as fixing them by updating any required information or by removing any irrelevant information from them.

6. HTTP Links & HTTPS Pages

If you have recently migrated your site from HTTP to HTTPS, you might find some of the links pointing to the previous version of the pages and not to the current version.

11. 302 Redirects

A 302 redirect indicates that it is temporary, although a 301 redirect means that it’s permanent.

Finding 302 Redirects is expected at the place of 301 Redirects.
Google even confirmed that 302 passes PageRank, which means if 302 redirects don’t get redirected, they will remove them at any point in the future. It will need updating to a 301 redirect.

12. Redirect Chains & Loops

The Redirects of your pages must go to page b from page a rather than your site sending the users to any other page or search engines by multiple redirects, aka by a redirect chain or by creating a redirect loop.
